The joy of less

Every day we're exposed to a massive quantity of advertisements, a huge machine to keep people buying without thinking about. In general ads are focused on convincing us that the only way (or the fastest way) to be a successful and happiest person is buying. But are our purchases and a better life really linked? For many people the response is no but are they conscious about this? Do People know that accumulating things is not the answer for a better life?

Francine Jay thinks that people need help to figure out this truth and get rid of every day's confusion. What to do? How to start?

In the introduction of "The joy of less", Jay starts with the concept of minimalism, the heart of the author's book. The objective is to get rid of prejudices and show that minimalism is not a cool artistic/rich trend but a way to live with less. Live with less may look like live as poor people but it's not the point. Live with less is to live with more space, physical and emotional space.

Jay's strategy in not to focus on organizing things into boxes and so but focuses on a kind of philosophical point of view: to get rid of things that are not used in our lives.

"The joy of less" is one of the first books before the new organization's trend and a very good reading option.

I hope you enjoy it!
